Members Enjoy Exclusive NIA Property Rental Opportunities

The NIA is located in the heart of the historic Nichols Farm district, situated on 42 beautiful acres which are also home to the Nichols Green, the Bunny Fountain, Five Pennies Playground, Nichols Lawn & Gazebo, Frog Pond, Ball Fields, and The Starkweather House. We sponsors many family-oriented events throughout the year, including the Jingle Bell Run, and is solely funded through membership dues and private donations.

Starkweather House

For a nominal fee, the Starkweather House can be rented for birthday parties, baptisms, scout events, etc.

House Amenities

House Rules

  • Attendance in the Starkweather House is limited to 50 people.
  • The Starkweather House must be clean and ready for the next member and vacated by 11pm.
  • The set-up & clean-up of the Starkweather House is the responsibility of the requesting member.
  • Requesting members and/or their guests are expected to park their vehicles in the NIA parking lot.
  • Smoking or the use of the house fireplaces ARE NOT permitted in the Starkweather House.
  • No fires are permitted on the NIA grounds without a fire permit AND the approval of the NIA Executive Board.
  • Firearms and/or archery equipment are not permitted except by on-duty public law-enforcement officials.
  • Due to damage from tape, thumbtacks or adhesives, these items are NOT ALLOWED on the walls.
  • There will be a fine if damage is noted after your event was held.
  • Requesting members and/or their guests are expected to be considerate of the tenants who live in the Starkweather House.

Regulations for Use

You must be an NIA member in good standing to rent the Starkweather House. Additionally all persons granted the use of or facilities agree to the following conditions:

  • That they assume liability for any damage or destruction to the Moore ball fields or any other NIA properties or facilities resulting from their use of said ball fields, properties or facilities during their time of use of said ball fields, property or facilities.
  • That they assume liability for any personal injury to any person(s) resulting from the use of said ball fields, property or facilities during their time of use of said ball fields, property or facilities.
  • That they agree to pay the ball field use fee of $25.00 per single use, not to exceed two (2) hours per use for five (5) or more uses (not to exceed two (2) hours per use) booked in advance, prior to the date of use of said ball field and delivered to the Ball Field Chairperson. Until payment is received, your request cannot be finalized and the date will remain open.
  • That they agree to abide by all applicable NIA rules and regulation regarding the use of the NIA properties or facilities (posted on the NIA website); Failure to use property without noticed during approved rental period may forfeit future rentals.
  • That, should they fail to comply with any of these conditions, they may be denied use of any NIA properties or facilities, and may be subject to additional recourse, including any necessary legal options, by the NIA and/or their representatives.

Moore Ballfields

The NIA has 2 ball fields that can be rented for a nominal fee.

Regulations for Use

You must be an NIA member in good standing to request the use of any NIA property or facility. Additionally all persons granted the use of our facilities agree to the following conditions:

  • They assume liability for any damage or destruction to NIA properties resulting from their use of the NIA property and be responsible for paying the fine to cover the cost of fixing the noted damage.
  • That they assume liability for any personal injury to any person(s) resulting from their use of said facilities for their event.
  • That they agree to pay the “house use fee” of $90 for members which is payable one week prior to the date of the event, and delivered to the House Use Chairperson.
  • That they agree to abide by all applicable NIA rules & regulations regarding the use of the Starkweather House as listed above.
  • That, should they fail to comply with any of these conditions, they may be denied the use of any NIA properties or facilities, and may be subject to additional recourse, including any necessary legal options by the NIA and/or their representatives.
  • The NIA is a volunteer non-profit organization; your respect for the house and grounds are appreciated by all the Nichols residents who use it.
